What's Google up to?

I was wondering the same thing as you may have: " What's Google up to? " when it pick on Pay Per Post? JohnChow dot Com was mentioning a few days ago about the fact that Google has something against all bloggers that are posting or will post PayPerPost reviews on their blogs. You may know that all the big bloggers, such as John Chow or Shoemoney, were penalized by Google a few weeks ago, for selling text links on their blogs. Their blog's PR ( Page Ranks ) were dropped to 4 ( for John Chow ) and 6 ( for Jeremy Shoemaker aka Shoemoney ). Now it seems that the same thing may happen to those blogs that are using PayPerPost, to make some money.

According to PayPerPost's CEO, Ted Murphy, Google wants to drop every blog's PR to whatever it was before, to ZERO! And that's because all this blogs are using PPP's monetizing services. Not that there's something wrong with their monetization system or it was found being illegal. You can still sign up to PayPerPost as before and earn money, without being afraid of being sucked in an illegal ponzi scheme. But the thing is that, as Mr. Murphy said " It is no coincidence that Google has gone after some blogs that utilize PayPerPost and many of our competitors services. We offer a very attractive alternative to AdSense and are leading a charge to provide real monetization for everyday bloggers. Unlike the Google AdSense black box, we are palms up when it comes to revenue share and give bloggers the lions share of advertising dollars that they deserve ", Google may seem to feel threatened by competitors, that would want to offer other AdSense alternatives for those who are not able to use Google's service.

This is a way through which Google wants to say: " Why not to monetize your blog JUST WITH GOOGLE ADSENSE? " Is it just me, or we should only stick to AdSense? Since we have a multitude of monetization opportunities, why not to use them all? It makes no sense ( for me, but maybe for Google does ) to use just what they say and what they like. Let's think about it for a moment: what if you're banned from AdSense and you're not monetizing your blog with something else, such as affiliate marketing, private ad sales, etc? What will you do? Will you try to sign up to Google Adsense again? You may try it, but you may not be accepted again, so you'll lose all your profits.

Don't get me wrong: I have nothing to do with PayPerPost, I do not work there, nor I'm the owner of it. I'm just a regular blogger that took advantage of this useful monetization opportunity, to earn a couple of bucks while blogging and giving tips, advice and information to my readers. But why to start slapping every blog and lower their PR's, just for using PPP? I won't wonder next time when Google will go after another website that helps bloggers to earn money online. I don't think that they're afraid of a little competition, but for me looks a bit strange ( and even ridiculous ). Aren't they accepting the fact that they're not the only ones on the market now? So, what if I don't want to use AdSense? So what if I got banned? Should this be the end of the making money online venture of mine? Of course not! As long as I have from where to select my monetization source, I will make money.

Now, I'm wondering what Google will try to pick on next? Will it be an affiliate marketing website? Will it be a pay per click advertising network, such as Bidvertiser or AdBrite? No one knows this, but I'm sure that we will going to hear of more websites like PayPerPost, being targeted by Google. In the meantime, you shouldn't be affected by this thing. Just keep on improving your blog, write good content, get some traffic and monetize it. Sooner or later, you will start earning money, no matter where from: Google Adsense, Bidvertiser, AdBrite, PayPerPost etc. I wish you good luck!
